Airtel all set to be world’s 3rd largest telecom service provider

Bharti Airtel on Monday said it is committed to turn into the world's third biggest telecom administrator soon, after China Mobile and UK-based Vodafone, as it proceeds with a solid subscriber development.

At the end of April, Airtel had in excess of 297 million clients over 20 nations. The most recent worldwide positioning and subscriber numbers were not instantly accessible.

Bharti Airtel had turned into the fifth biggest portable administrator on the planet tailing its procurement of Zain Group's versatile operations over 15 African countries in June 2010.

"We are very close. It is a matter of one or two million (subscribers). Maybe, by next few weeks or months, we should be there," Bharti Enterprises Managing Director Manoj Kohli said on the side-lines of an IMI event in New Delhi.

"We decided in 2002 to concentrate on things that we know and outsource the work, which we don't know to our partners," Kohli said while addressing the students of IMI.
Kohli said Airtel has contributed Rs. 1.70 lakh crore so far and has yearly incomes of over Rs. 85,000 crore. He said that in 2002, Airtel innovated the idea of outsourcing which later turned into a standard for telecom operators over the world.
