Wireless Audio Devices to Replace Traditional Gadgets in Future

The demand for wireless audio devices has seen a commendable surge in the last decade. This increase in usage does not come as a huge surprise. Portability, ease of access, remote operability, and smooth data exchange are a few factors that have influenced the growth of wireless devices. Prominent market players, such as Apple Inc., Bose Corporation and Harman International are introducing innovative wireless products to expand their product line. Wireless technology, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Airplay, have received positive feedback from customers worldwide. Renowned organizations are coming together to promote “wireless future.”

Apple to introduce new wireless earphones called Airpods

The famous multinational technology company, Apple has prioritized wireless audio and improved photography since a long time. The company hopes to introduce a wide range of wireless devices in the near future as research and development is in full swing.

In September 2016, Apple announced the launch of their new products; iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The company sticks to the motto of going cordless in the future. To prove their point, the company has omitted the headphone jack that was found in the previous editions. This is a huge step taken by the company towards manufacturing wireless audio compatible iPhones. Apple has also developed new wireless earphones, labelled as “Airpods” by the company. The wireless Airpods can be connected or synced with the phone via the Lightning port available. Airpods are similar to the existing Earpods, the only difference being that the former is wireless. the company also announced a variety of Bluetooth headphones. Apple’s Chief Design Officer, Jony Ive quoted, “We're just at the beginning of a truly wireless future we've been working toward for many years where technology enables the seamless and automatic connection between you and your devices."

WiSA is a growing standard for wireless home theatre and high resolution products. Established in 2011, it is an organization that aims to bring reliable, good quality, high-resolution compatible wireless audio devices to the customers. It is also responsible for working on new specifications and perform tests for the same. The number of companies that have registered with WiSA has shown a growth in the last couple of years. The organization has seen a growth in membership and has taken giant strides forwards to adopt the wireless audio technology by TV and popular speaker brands.
DTS Play-Fi streaming platform embraced by manufacturers

A number of manufacturers are embracing the DTS Play-Fi multi-room music streaming platform. In September 2016, DTS, Inc. announced that Pioneer and Onkyo will be their latest hardware partners. Both the companies will revamp their AVRs, lifestyle products, and home theatres-in-a-box with DTS Play-Fi technology through firmware updates. The technology will be integrated in their 2017 models in other product categories as well. The unique technology allows audio streaming from one of the most popular music services, personal music libraries and internet radio stations. Brian Towne, executive vice president, DTS, quoted, "We are proud to announce that Pioneer and Onkyo are the latest brands to join DTS Play-Fi, the world's largest ecosystem of premium wireless audio products,"
